Creative Wedding Photographer – Fave moments of 2017 // So, shamefully, it’s July already. Hey who’s bothered?

2017 a year of laughs, tears and the loveliest couples (AGAIN…I am so lucky!)

2017 flew by. It was a great year full of laughter and as ever the loveliest couples that chose me to be their creative documentary wedding photographer. I am so grateful. You are the reason I love what I do. A massive thank you to each and every one of you. Also BIG thanks to all the wonderful suppliers I have met and connected with this year – your work has blown me away!

Most importantly thank you for the trust you put in me. It allows me to do my thing, blend in with your guests and enjoy myself very much – that’s ok isn’t it?!  Focussing on the real moments, the genuine connections, the belly laughs will forever, in my mind, hands down beat a hundred technically perfect but staged looking images. Oh how I would hate it if my couples reaction to their photos would be’…Oh that’s when Jordanna made us do that.’  :-/  I digress, but boy…that is not for me! Let’s keep things real (mannnnnnnnn.)

International photography prize recognition – Rangefinders Rising Star 2017

I’ve been honoured this year to be named as one of Rangefinder Magazines 30 Rising Stars in the world. Which has been pretty bonkers.

The judges, if you are interested, told me that they, “loved my ability to capture genuinely joyous, funny and quirky expressions without them feeling at all staged, cheesy or contrived.” They recognised that I didn’t rely on posing, that I am able to coax happiness and that I focus as much on guests as I do on the couple. They described my work as having ‘spunk’ (*snigger* they are American) and purpose. They also said I was like the Benny Hill of the wedding photographer world. Ha. (minus being a sex pest, folks!) This was a joy to read – they got me!

Having said this…yes I felt extremely privileged and proud to be recognised on this kind of crazy level but I also know it is without a doubt my couples’ feedback and happiness that fulfils me and brings me joy week in and week out. I will continue to do ‘me’ and feel comfortable with not focussing on trends but on capturing what makes my couples and their families tick. It sounds gushy but you have all enriched my life in so many ways, so thank you thank you thank you!
