Quirky Wedding Venue: Deaf Institute Wedding

Deaf Institute Wedding // I was totally thrilled to be asked to shoot Kelly & Simon’s Deaf Institute Wedding in a gloriously gritty part of Manchester. Anyone that chooses to get married in a Rock Club/ Rave Venue/Nightclub gets the thumbs up from me! Check list of cool…A massive mirror ball, velvet curtains, outside roof terrace, tiered seating and parrots on the wall. Yep, yep, yep! Kelly did manage to inject a bit of femininity and berserk colour too through the flowers she chose; bold 1950s bridesmaids dresses and her made for dancing blush circle skirt dress. It all looked fab in a cool way – not in a way that looked overly thought out – and really complimented the grittiness of the venue.

The day promised to laid back; full of music and dancing; laugh ’till you snort’ filled with a few cute kids (supplied by Kelly & Simon!) thrown in for good measure, and that it was.

Kelly and Simon were a joy to be around and remain my pals. You are both smashing and your boys are a delight.

Now go stick some Charlatans on and have a look through some of my faves from their fab day this time last year…Cheers!

“Everyone thought Jordanna was one of our mates who just happened to do photography! Ha ha 🙂 Which is definitely a good thing! She is so talented and such a lovely person, we were giggling all day!”

Deaf Institute Wedding Venue

What made you chose the Deaf Institute as your wedding venue? It is an amazing, arty, music hall venue and most importantly, not very wedding-y. Our favourite thing to do is go to gigs so was totally perfect. for us and ticked all our boxes!

What was the deciding factor when choosing your outfits? Ha ha, am I allowed to say the grotty nightclub floor?! i selected 1950’s style shorter dresses for the girls, so not they were not dragging along a gig venue floor(!) and relaxed, non matching suits for the boys. Trying to keep in touch with the chilled vibe of the venue and the day we were planning.

Tell us about your ceremony… Well if I had to pick one word it would be short! We kept it as short as possible so we could just get on with the having fun bit! But it was sweet and my two eldest boys gave me away which was so cute!

And the party… Special mention must go to our awesome indie covers band, The Fraudsters. They were amazing and really kept the dance floor packed all night long. We are far too cool for a cake or any traditional gubbins like that…

…Alright, Kelly, if you say so 😉
