Trinity Buoy Wharf wedding photography guide

Trinity Buoy Wharf is a uniquely brilliant London wedding venue with a lighthouse! It’s a creative hub on the banks of the Thames in East London. As a wedding photographer I’d say it’s a gem of a place to get wed, with wide open city and river views for amazing photos of your day!

The vibe: weddings at Trinity Buoy Wharf

This is a wedding venue with a raw, industrial feel. Inside it’s a modern party space creative types will love. As close to the river Thames as you can get with dry toes, you’ll have incredible open views of the city. This means superb wedding photography opportunities and a delighted grin behind the camera!

ABOUT Trinity Buoy Wharf – all the details

You’ve got two rooms, both riddled with history and fabulous wedding spaces. The Chain Store is vast and industrial with high ceilings – previously used for storing those massive chains for ships. It’s got white walls so it’s pretty much a blank canvas for any colours you want to bring in as your wedding decor. The Buoy Store next door is all bare brickwork and old wooden beams – a unique space for your ceremony.

Being on the Thames, there’s also the option to arrive by boat, which is pretty cool. As I write this, said boat is temporarily out of service, but hopefully “The Predator” (I know, right?) will be sailing you to your Trinity Buoy Wharf wedding again soon!

According to the website, you can also drive your car in. So that’s handy if you want to make an entrance!

Being able to take couples up London’s only lighthouse at Trinity Buoy Wharf is always a memorable treat. It’s really special up there.

Why I love being a Trinity buoy wharf wedding photographer

There are so many amazing spaces around the wharf – it’s a wedding photographer’s dream! The Chain and Buoy Store venues are bright and spacious. There’s colour everywhere in the dock and I’d heartily recommend a stroll around Container City so we can use the super colourful containers as a backdrop for your photos. It’s industrial, with views over water (love that!) – and did I mention the freaking lighthouse in London?! Honestly: Trinity Buoy Wharf is one of London’s best wedding venues of all time. Beats Westminster Abbey for me anyway.

REAL WEDDINGS from Trinity Buoy Wharf

I loved spending a day as Rohan and Amal’s Trinity Buoy Wharf wedding photographer. These two had an amazing day filled with colour and creativity, from Rohan’s henna and modern green sari to the bridesmaids’ vibrant Indian dress. There were so many gorgeous candid moments, and we got some stunning wedding photos at Container City (part of Trinity Buoy Wharf). I’ll show you one with the brightest yellow shipping container – it looks incredible and is a great reminder that the sun shone all day for these two!

I am yet to blog Laura and Paddy’s wedding day but it was a real corker. Keep your eyes peeled for their day coming soon!

History

I mentioned a lighthouse at the top of the page. Trinity Buoy Wharf is probably* London’s only lighthouse wedding venue. It was built in 1864 to experiment and develop lighting equipment, which is all very nice. More importantly, it makes an awfully nice backdrop for wedding photos, as Rohan and Amal found out when I photographed their Trinity Buoy Wharf wedding!

*almost certainly

You’ve got two spaces for your Trinity Buoy Wharf wedding: the Chain and Buoy Store. They form the largest surviving Victorian structure at Trinity Buoy Wharf. Erected in 1864, this new store is the largest of the surviving nineteenth-century structures on the wharf. Just in case you needed to know that for your wedding.
