Everything you need to know about Islington Town Hall Weddings

Islington Town Hall Weddings

Couples who’ll love this place

If you love London for its history and architecture, this is a fabulous spot to do the official bit of your wedding! Islington Town Hall is a grand old chunk of what gives London its timeless character. With a stately entrance, grand staircase and tiled floors the art deco vibe brings all the grandeur you could want for your ceremony.

I love Islington Town Hall because

It’s such a fitting location to say your I dos. There’s a seriousness to the architecture which just works: it’s not pompous but it really gives a sense of forever, and of following in the footsteps of so many other love stories. The Council Chamber has lovely big stained glass windows, a cracking art deco chandelier and wood panelled seating in a horseshoe, so guests can really feel a part of your ceremony. The light filtering down from those high windows can be spectacular, so it’s a magical wedding venue for amazing photography!

The vibe: how does an Islington Town Hall wedding feel?

As you walk up the steps to the Grade 1 listed Town Hall ALL the excitement will hit. It’s a grand old building for a VERY special occasion. Big marble steps, a 100 year old staircase and then red carpets, wood panelling and chandeliers all add to the atmosphere. This is where you make it official – and the ceremony rooms all have that vibe!

A gorgeous review from an Islington Town Hall wedding

“Jordanna captured our wedding day perfectly.

We loved her style from the minute we laid eyes on her work and booking with her was one of the very first wedding-planning decisions we made.

From our initial engagement shoot meeting right through to printing our final wedding day images, she has been an absolute pleasure to deal with and is someone who we speak so highly of in both a professional and personal manner.

With her eye for detail and skill for snapping lovely genuine moments, it goes without saying that our wedding photo’s are simply amazing – in Jordanna’s hands, we were never in any doubt about that 🙂 xx”

Wedding photo opportunities in and around Islington Town Hall

The grand entrance and marble staircase make for lush, timeless photos that will capture the essence of your wedding at the Town Hall. The rooms themselves are all great for wedding photos, with the wood panelling, town hall crests and stained glass adding a stately backdrop to your photos. Around the inside of Islington Town Hall there are original arch windows and their art deco style is equally fabulous for wedding photography. The light in here is insane! The entrance staircase makes for a classic confetti shot with all of your guests.

If you’re walking to your reception venue, Islington has loads of creative and interesting backgrounds for amazing wedding photos. After Kate & Chris’s Islington wedding ceremony we walked from Islington Town Hall to the Metalworks, getting some gorgeous pictures of the bride and groom walking along London streets in the winter sunshine. Torrens Street’s “Do what you love / Love what you do” mosaic and Islington Fire Station brought some incredible colour to their wedding photos!

What they say about Islington Town Hall weddingsOn Islington Town Hall’s own website they say the venue may be the perfect choice for a beautiful London wedding ceremony location. Their friendly, warm and experienced registrars will take care of your ceremony – which in some rooms can be up to 40 minutes if you choose to make it fully personalised with readings, music, a choice of script, and personal vows.

Islington Town Hall is an “impressive listed building, with its grand façade and sweeping marble staircase, which provides an elegant setting for your ceremony, not to mention an impressive backdrop for your photographs.”

Real weddings at Islington Town Hall

Sophie and Sam’s Islington wedding was a whirlwind of love and laughter, with a ceremony at Islington Town Hall and a reception at Clapton Country Club. Guests jumped on a red double decker between venues while the happy couple had some gorgeous pics on the London streets – an unforgettable and beautiful wedding!

Kate and Chris’s Islington wedding will always be a favourite for me. They had their ceremony in the Council Chamber at Islington Town Hall, then walked to Islington Metalworks for a colourful and characterful celebration. Handmade touches with lots of colourful and personal touches made this an epic London wedding in a completely unique and vibrant space.
