The first dance.
If you are having a first dance, just relax and forget I’m there. I might set up some lighting to give the first dance something a little special. If your DJ uses the laser lights with the little pin dots (I hate those things) I’ll get him/her to turn them off just for the first dance.
Once everyone else hits the dance floor, I’ll capture the action for about 15/20 minutes more unless we’ve discussed otherwise. There’s only so many dancing shots you want before everything descends into drunken madness. At this point, I’ll head home to back up and edit your images.
Lastly, let me know if you’re doing a send off or anything else special that you’d like me to be around for.
Party time
All I can say is, ignore me and my flash and have a brilliant time. Let loose, party hard, enjoy yourselves! I will dip in and out of the dance floor to give the guests break from me photographing them – it’ll be fun not awkward. Whether you hire an ace band; a superstar DJ or put together a playlist of your favourite songs, there is nothing better to photograph than an energetic dance floor. Especially if there is a Granny getting her groove on too!
